Hey! LiveJournal, I remember you! So.... update!

Life is good. Dollar store job rocks. The annoying old lady was fired for being a useless bitch, the dickhead guy was fired for stealing money, the stupid teenage mother was fired for stealing money without being clever enough to hide it. Three new supervisors were hired, two of them I actually helped train a lot, so even though they're my bosses I'm higher up on the totem pole. The third used to work there before, but quit for a couple months to go someplace else, then came back when that place closed down. I'm pretty sure she's been stealing money too.

I'm pretty excited that I have become a regular at the pizza shop near work. I don't even have to order "the usual" I just walk inside, give a thumbs up, and the girl is already putting my order in the oven. Which is awesome because it means she gets to me right away even if there's a huge line. Apparently the two regulars they get are myself, and "Green Camero Guy."

Finally got a wireless card for my laptop. I'd really like to just bring it outside, or to a cafe or something and spend an entire afternoon writing. Unfortunately it can't detect the battery anymore so I need to keep it plugged in to work. I'm kind of bummed out about my writing though, because my desktop had some catastrophic failure and had to be reformatted. I lost a lot of notes, and what was probably my best short story. I have an unfinished copy backup though, so I might rewrite it sometime.

Trying to come up with a name for a tribal shaman type... Feel free to make suggestions.

I have a job, for those who haven't heard already. I'm working at the local dollar store, and it is awesome. There is so much cheap crap there, and I love cheap crap! The manager has a bit of a temper problem, but that's okay because his temper is directly entirely at the customers, and women, which causes me no end of amusement. He thinks I'm a genius (Sure fooled him!) and he has a sense of humor, so I can toss insults at my boss all day long and he won't mind at all. The best day so far was when I worked right up to closing, it was the manager, and the other young guy who works there. As soon as we closed for the day, we cranked up the music to a decibel I've never heard inside a dollar store, and we rocked out with our mops out. Other coworkers include a cool retired guy, a trailor park matriarch, and two cute stupid girls.

Started making some boffer weapons, just a few quickies to practice. I think the axe came out rather well, except the head looks like a snork. Bashy club looks as neat as I expected, but I made it an inch or two too short. Also fixed one of my crappy swords into a not-so-crappy sword. I want to get working on that orc double axe I have planned, but my artistic talent is nil, and I'm starting to think I need some padding softer than what I have.... Still not sure how I'm going to make that shield. I have some ideas, but the part that's stumping me is how I'm going to make the handle / strap / grasping point. I want to avoid drilling and bolts if I can, so I'm going to start looking into adhesives.

Dollar store also just got a shipment of belts... I'm seriously thinking of buying thirty of them and crafting up some clumsy barbarian armor.

    <lj:music>Timon and Pumba - Hakuna Matata</lj:music>

I'm back from Spring Break. Spent the week with family, nothing too exciting. My mom freaked out a tiny bit when she did my laundry for me and found a pair of rabbit ears. Not like she found a thong or anything, so not really a big deal. Speaking of ears, I'm surprised by the amount of people who still haven't heard of Furry at all. I was recently getting caught up with an old acquaintance;

Me: Yeah, I'm a fur now
Her: Fur?
Me: Yup.
Her: Like catgirls?
Me: ... Yes. Like catgirls. *dies inside a little*

I don't mind the sterotypes. Muslims have terrorism, Gays have AIDS, Blacks have gang violence, Mexicans have theft, Itallians have the mafia, Chinese can't drive, Blondes can't spell "tomato" etc. Now compared to the sterotype of fucking anything that moves, I'd say furs have it pretty good. I don't even mind the misconception that that it has something to do with beastiality, because in all fairness furs do know more about animal genetalia than anyone without a zoology degree reasonably should. I like to think there are some people who know what being a fur is really about, but I'm not gonna take the time to explain it.

Also I would like to announce that I am starting a new fad in the fur community. From now on, the term "yiff" will be used in a fashion modeled after The Smurfs. Therefore a fur might say "Did you see that yiff? Man was it yiffy. Now let's go get Pappa Yiff and grab some yiffberries." And all furs within hearing radius must pretend they understand what it means.

I just have to mention this first. Today in English just before class started, one of the girls said something very quotable. "Scew virtue, I want cock!"

I took a quick trip to the mall to pick up a book I need for English. "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" by Robert Heinlein. It's supposed to be extremly good. I also found the fourth book in the most awesome series ever. The newest book is called "Wolf Hunting" by... uhm.. someone. I'll look at it later. Seriously though, greatest series ever. It makes me wet in the pants.

I also stopped by the dollar store in the mall, which is freakin' awesome. I got a bunch of props and trinkets for my new Nosferatu costume. I've been tearing stuff up and poking metal bits in odd places for the last hour or so, it's almost done. I can't wait for LARP Saturday.

I've been having a pretty crumby week. I'm just getting over a bad cold which had been making it hard for me to walk and breath at the same time. Had to skip my Anthroplogy discussion session this week because of it, and I missed last week because of a scheduling fiasco, plus there was no discussion at all the first week, which means I'm three weeks into the semester and still have not attended that class. Except lectures of course, which leave me confused since I'm behind on the reading anyway and I'm not particularly interested in DNA and protien strings. I barely slept at all Monday, which I will also blame on being sick, which resulted in me taking a nap around 4pm yesterday that inadvertantly lasted until 5am this morning. And I had intended to spend the entire evening studying for my math test tomorrow. (Math being the thing I persistantly fail at.) So I'm going to spend a lot of today studying, and get up early tomorrow, luckily Thursdays are light and my first class is math at noon. In my English class we're required to write a reading response for the reading due that day. I've done it for every single class except today's. She collects them "periodicly" which means today was both the first time I skipped it (also due to the excessive nap) and the first time she collected it for a grade. Sonofabitch.

But it's all better now.

Best Dialogue Option Ever

So I mentioned this to a few people. I've been playing NeverWinter Nights 2, and at one point in the game you come face to face with a bard and you're allowed to challange him to a lute contest. I thought it was boring and didn't want the lute, so I didn't even try, purposely lost all three rounds. So the dialogue box opens "If I don't do something quick, I'm going to lose!" You get a couple options I didn't bother to remember and then at the very end is the option "Set him on fire and steal his lute." Naturally, I set him on fire and stole his lute.

But the story doesn't end there! The bard seemed somewhat familiar to me, but I didn't think much of it right away. I now discovered that the NPC in the game was in fact a PC I knew from from the persistant world server I spent all my NWN1 time on! It had been so long I completly forgot I knew one of the guys who was going to be working on NWN2. There were a couple other references to the old server put in, but nothing so entertaining as a bard on fire.

History and English I know I just barely passed.

Sold my books today too. Yeah, the things I spent $600 on a couple months ago. Got thirty-five bucks. Woohoo. Maybe if I only ask Santa for cash this Christmas, I can use it to buy other people gifts! .... yeah right, I've been a naughty boy all year, Santa ain't giving me squat.

Still....
Grr. Why does October have to be so busy? So much I want to do, but I am severely lacking in both time and money. There's some people I'd really like to meet/see again at FurFright, but at this point I really, really doubt I'm going to make it this year. I have a math test tomorrow that I'm going to fail, but I can't fail it so I'm going to spend most of the rest of the day studying. Luckily I get my essay done over the weekend, I still have a couple essays to write for history, but I can put those off until November, even though that's going to make my November schedule crowded it won't be nearly as bad as October right now... I haven't had time to write anything creative since god knows when... I was planning on trying to send something in to Verbal Seduction again, but I missed the deadline. At least as a StoryTeller I can get some creative energy out at the Vampire LARP. Which reminds me I need to rewrite my character background for the Novitas LARP, which I also don't have time to do. My room is a mess again, and I need to find time to do laundry this week. I've got a geology test Friday, but the questions are being posted in advance, so once I get my math test done with I can concentrate on that. So my brain is all befuddled and spread in eight different directions right now, and I don't think I'm going to have any plans for anything at all until the last possible minute.

So yeah, missing out on seeing friends, watching my grades and future plummet down a dark hole of statistical nonsense, letting people down, and keeping my muse locked up in a tiny cage with murky water and saltless food pellets.

And yet... The world is a happy and beautiful place filled with peace and love, so I can't feel emo no matter how hard I try.

Bounce with me!

Steve Irwin died. That really sucks. I mean, his show was ridiculous, but as a person he's done more to save wildlife than anyone else has in a long time.

Didn't get the library job. My parents make too much money, so I'm not allowed to make enough to feed myself. Yay government regulation. I mean, not to be racist or anything... but it does piss me off to see all the jobs on campus given to international students, and I can't get hired for a job I was told I was perfect for because the government wants that position saved for someone who grew up with a daddy in prison. It doesn't make any sense that all my financial problems would be gone if only I had the blessing of being born into poverty.

Went to Novitas last weekend. Was very awesome. I think the highlight of it was when everyone got together to sing pirate songs and then have a big skirmish. Even if the evil guys ended up with the magic sword, it was still a lot of fun. Remind me to write my PEL soon.

I was kind of upset last week to find out my geology teacher took a new job and was going to be leaving. She was this really cool energenic old lady who made lecture fun. I thought it was a rare bit of luck to get someone like that. And then she left with hardly any warning at all... Then I met the new teacher today. He's ten times better. It's like geology class turned into a comedy club. Which is a very unexpected thing.... Geology is freakin' boring. But the class is so much fun!

Back on campus. My apartment is awesome. I'm almost tempted to say small, but it's still way more space than I'd ever really need. So came in around one or two... met the roomate's parents, got everything unpacked and set up. We went looking for some decorative stuff but no luck. Started talking about having a little party once we get things set up. Since both our parents went crazy in buying us groceries. Would probably end up being a lame nerd party, but that's still fun!

My computer got scary for a bit, gave me a "primary dive 0 not found" error at startup... That's a pretty bad error. But I tinkered around with its insides and everything seems okay now. So I'm just gonna relax the rest of the day. Tomorrow I'll probably try to figure out the buses, see if I can get my classes straightened out, and check on getting my old security job again.

Snakes on a Plane is an awesome movie. There has never before been a movie that so appropriatly lives up to its name. If you haven't seen it, go see it. Do it now!

Official birthday is tomorrow, but celebrated it Saturday. Got another gig of ram for my computer, and a box from BonTon filled with clothes from Sears. Was pretty nice.

Not allowed to sign up for classes until Monday at 8:30. Yup, that's the day classes start. If the registration office is open over the weekend hopefully I can peek in and straighten things out. Otherwise, I guess I just won't take a class that starts before nine on Monday. And it looks like I'm headed up to school sometime on Saturday, so I'll have a day or so to get settled.
